About
- I grew up on a ship.
- I edited an Emmy winner.
- I was held at gunpoint for 3 days.
- My Dad was probably a pirate.
- This is all true.

That's me at fourteen, with a camcorder the size of a small horse. I'd just discovered that people made things for a living, that creating was a job you could actually have, and I couldn't believe it.
In 1985 I watched the making of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and saw people building the moments that had me hooked. My Dad had just bought a JVC VHS camcorder. A camera has been in my hand ever since.
In March 1998 my first boss told me the best camera operators he knew were good editors. Learn to cut, he said, and you'll know what to shoot. I was sold. I started as an assistant editor at Meridian TV, walked into the edit suite, and knew I was in the place I needed to be.
Twenty-eight years later I've cut wildlife, expeditions, big builds and live events for the BBC, Netflix and Disney+. And using the skills I learned in the edit, I've also shot and directed for broadcasters around the world.

Story & Magic Studios
You can't compete against a big studio. So join ours.
Every show I've made had a studio behind it. So I built one, with a team of people who will tell you what's working and what isn't.
